  • Well with only 18 more days of school left, we have begun the count down! The next few weeks are going to be very busy so please make sure you check your child's folder daily as well as the blog.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory :
We have recently finished reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in class. All the student's loved the story and were so excited to listen to it daily. Thanks to Christian for bringing it in!
Since we have finished the story, we will now be watching the original movie to look for similarities and differences.
I would like to let all parents know this is G rated and it is the original version. If you have any concerns about the movie, please let me know immediately as we are planning to watch it next Friday afternoon (June 6th).

Sports Assembly: We will be having a school sports assembly June 6th right after mass at 10am.

math activity

Happy Thursday!

I have sent home today a math sheet for most students in their blue folder. They are to complete the remaining rows for homework tonight.
If your child didn't receive one, it just means they went ahead and completed it in class.

Please return the math tomorrow.

We have our Field Trip to the Surrey Children's Festival this wee on Thursday. We are planning to leave at 9:30am sharp, so please make sure you arrive to school on time.
Here are a couple reminders for the day:
  • All students must wear FULL UNIFORM
  • Please make sure you child has a full lunch with them including a snack and plenty of water
  • Wear weather appropriate gear: As of now the weather forecast says it will be raining on Thursday, so jackets with hoods are a must! NO UMBRELLAS!

  • If it does turn out to be sunny make sure your child has a hat and sunscreen
Parent volunteers will be contacted by email today. I have been waiting for Criminal Record Checks from some so there has been a bit of a delay. If you have not received an email or have not been spoken to by me in regards to the field trip by Wednesday morning, please see me as soon as possible on Wednesday.

Happy Mother's Day Weekend!

I would like to thank all the Mothers for attending our wonderful Mother's Day Tea today. We loved singing to you as well as sharing the morning spending time with you. Thank you again for coming!
Tomorrow the students will be coming home with a special Mother's Day Gift. I have asked the children to hide the special gift until Mother's Day (if they can!) to surprise their mom's.

Gift From God
Today the books will come home. Students are asked to finish PG 5 and compete PG 6 with their parents. Again I would like to remind parents to NOT go further into the book and complete extra pages. The pages correspond to specific lessons that we need to compete in class prior to the workbook activity. Thank you for your co-operation.

Word Books and Home Reading
I would like to remind you that both the Word Books and Home Reading Packages must be returned tomorrow.

Field trip Notices
I am still waiting for a few more field trip notices to be returned to me in order to have a final count as well as look at how many volunteers I have for the day.

Coming Up Next Week:
Words of the Week in Word Book : Monday
Insect drawing and exploration continued

Have a Wonderful Mother's Day Weekend and may everyone be blessed with special moments with their loved ones.

The Sun is Here!

The sun is here! This week we have been blessed with  wonderful sunny weather. Although the sunny weather is great I would like to remind all parents to please pack hats and sunscreen for outdoor recesses. Along with the protective outdoor gear you  can also pack some extra snacks for your child or cold drinks. As the students are spending more time outside for recess and PE they are becoming quite hungry at recess and lunch! Thanks!
If you have any questions or concerns please email me.

This week:
Word Books:
Today we had our first spelling test using the words from our "AB" Word Family List.
Everyone did awesome! Monday we will be learning a new word family so be sure to check your child's blue folder for new words in their Word Book. You do not have to re-write the words in the book, however you can practice writing them on spare paper at home. The book is only set home in order for parents to learn the words with their child and practice them at home.

Gift From God
This weekend there is no Gift From God homework, however please remember to ONLY complete the assigned pages for the evening when the book has been brought home by your child. Usually it is only 1 page. If you are unsure please check the blog or email me with questions.

Mother's Day Tea
We are busy preparing for our Mother's Day Tea on Thursday May 8th with many special surprises in store for the mothers. Thank you to everyone for sending back the RSVP's!
We will be starting at 11am sharp, so please make sure you are on time. Childcare will be provided for those mom's bringing their younger children.
We look forward to seeing all the mother's at our Tea!

Surrey Children's Festival
Please bring in the field trip form if you already haven't done so along with the volunteer form if you are able to supervise and the cheque for $10.
